“It was super important for me, if for no other reason, to talk to other people who were “crunchy” in a face-to-face setting.” -Morgan Dart
Let me introduce you to Morgan Dart. She is a 29-year-old mother of 2 who she shares with her husband. Her boys are 4 and 2 years old, although her 4-year-old is quick to point out that he’s actually 4 and a half. She is a volunteer co-leader of the Fox Valley Holistic Moms Network chapter located in Wisconsin.
Morgan became aware of HMN through an email chain, and when she moved to Wisconsin 3 years ago she joined her local community. .Morgan became a co-leader of her chapter of about 20 members in October of 2018. As a co-leader, Morgan is part of planning all gatherings, in addition to attending them.
“HMN was something I needed in my life, because I was in the middle of nowhere, and I didn’t have any local friends. And being on the holistic spectrum limited my friends even further. It was super important for me, if for no other reason, to talk to other people who were “crunchy” in a face-to-face setting.”
“Our Facebook group is very, very active, and one of our members posted that she was just so overwhelmed. And it was absolutely amazing to watch members who hadn’t even met her in person ask ‘What can we do to help? Can we take the kids? Do you need an overnight? Can we help you with meals? Can we help clean up the house?’ Everybody turned on a dime and asked, ‘What can we do to support you, fellow member?’ It was one of those moments that solidified that this is a group that I’m super glad to be a part of.”
Being a mom, homemaker, wife and small farm owner takes a lot of energy and time. Morgan has been working on time management lately. She has two tiny humans and also horses, goats and chickens depending on her.
Morgan’s family incorporates holistic living into their everyday lives by “eating clean, being outdoors as much as possible, using homeopathic remedies, first, and Western medicine only when truly necessary, and supporting local farms and businesses.” She and her husband considered homeschooling the boys, but have found themselves pulled toward another alternative method of schooling, Waldorf School.
Morgan says, “I am super glad to be a part of HMN. It’s amazing to have found my tribe!”
