As winter begins to make its way across the country and into our homes and schools, it is important to take extra precautions to keep the whole family healthy this season. There isn’t one perfect solution to shield your child from ever getting sick, but I have found a few dependable methods and tricks that keep my kids healthy, on the go, and out of their beds. Here are some of my go-to tips:
Wash your hands – You should be doing this all year, but it is even more important during flu season. I tell my kids to scrub in warm, soapy water for 30 seconds. My kids love Everyone Tangerine + Vanilla Hand Soap because it is foamy and smells great!
Snack healthy – This is another tip that you should be used year-round, but with kids being inside in the winter, they are more tempted to snack around the house. Avoid junk foods with too much sugar or artificial ingredients, and if you want to give your kids a sweet treat, try to find organic options. They taste just as good!
Keep the house clean – Having a tidy home goes a long way when it comes to the health of those living in it. Stay on top of your household chores and try to use all-natural cleaning products for an immune system boost! Attitude is a brand I have trusted for a long time. They have a ton of great personal and home care products free of all that fake stuff you don’t need.
Boost energy levels – A healthy child is an active child. One way I try to keep energy levels high in our home is by diffusing essential oils. Aura Cacia carries a diverse line of practical oils for all your needs. Essential oils are always helpful when it comes to putting some pep in my kids’ step!
**Please read labels and safety guidelines before diffusing**
Get to bed – Sleep is vital when it comes to keeping a strong immune system. I try to get my kids on a routine of going to bed by 8 p.m. each night to ensure they get the recommended amount of sleep for their age.
Have good, old-fashioned fun! – Nowadays, young kids are staring at phone screens and TVs more than ever before. As I said before, a healthy child is an active child. I believe healthy habits go much deeper than what we put into our bodies. My kids love playing outside and goofing around in our basement. We try to limit screen time for them and promote an active lifestyle that allows them to move around a little!
Working at a company like Frontier Co-op has opened my eyes to so many different ways I can implement healthy living in our house and family life. Each day, I get to be around and learn about so many products that are all-natural, organic, and ethically sourced. Every product we carry is effective too! All of them are from trusted companies and families that share our mission of providing only the best for people and the planet.
Because of my job, I can be in the know on what products I should be using at home and all the benefits they provide. My kids and I love using them and I can rest assured knowing I am providing only the best for my family.
Check out all the products I mentioned and many more at Frontier’s website and through your local chapter’s buying club.
