A Simple Guide to Organizing with Joy and Ease

The energy in our homes is in tune with the energy of the seasons.

With shorter daylight hours and more time spent indoors during winter months, your home may begin to feel like it’s lost some of its spring cleaning mojo. It’s easy to feel a little confined or stagnant during the winter months when it’s natural to hunker down under a blanket instead of spearheading a cleaning or organizing endeavor.

Our home needs constant refreshing, upkeep and attention. Instead of waiting until the new year to get the energy flowing in your space, consider these five easy to implement refresh methods to energize you and your home!

If you think you don’t have time, think again! All five can be done in less than 60 minutes!

Get Your Mind Right

First, get your essential oil diffuser going with a scent that promotes clarity and concentration. We often underestimate the power of scent! According to a recent Entrepreneur* article, “Smell is the strongest of the senses and is best able to influence brain activity. Olfactory bulbs are part of the limbic system and directly connect to the areas of the brain that process emotion and learning.”

As the mornings are finally getting a bit chilly here on the West Coast, I love using lemon as part of my morning routine. Lemon is known to promote concentration as well as calm and clarify. When I inhale the scent of lemon it takes me back to warm days with lemonade and sunshine. It’s highly motivating!

Get Rooted

Set an intention for your refresh session. Remember why you decided to move into this home. Many of us often forget how excited and expanded we were when we first saw our space. We are generally filled with possibility and see so much potential. Over time we may lose sight of what drew us in. Now is the perfect time to set new intentions for our home and remember how wonderful our space has been, can be and will continue to be!

Welcome the Wind

Open up all the windows even if it’s below freezing outside. Yes! Just doing it. A little fresh air will do your home a lot of good! If you can handle having the chilly air envelope your space for an entire hour, even better.

Bring the Outside Inside

There is nothing more uplifting than a vase with fresh flowers. Splurge and get a nice bouquet of flowers for an area that you will see every time you walk into your home.

Hit the Refresh Button

We all have an area of our home that tends to collect more clutter than another and another one that we have been neglecting for years. This doesn’t have to be an all-day project. Keep reading…
